We have a new Demag runner (spinner) attachment we’ve been successfully trialling. This specially designed runner attaches to the telescopic boom of either our AC40 and AC45 cranes to provide additional lift height in buildings with low ceiling clearance. The runner can be fitted with either auxiliary sheaves or a pivoting double hook at its pinnacle end. This positioning provides a greater lifting height and performance within restricted overhead space. It can be offset in three different positions for varying its pinnacle height from the linear travel of boom.
We used the double hook to provide us with a maximum lifting height for minimal headspace while fitting a gantry crane at a low ceiling warehouse in Byfleet, Surrey. Using a low acute angle and the long reach of a extending telescopic boom, the gantry could be safely inserted into the low ceiling space with only a minimal clearance. Sometimes this meant the crane needed to be outside, however it worked and got the job completed quicker than it would have done using other means.
The runner attachment is a great example of how using the right equipment can make handling certain jobs more efficient for us and therefore saving our customers time and money.
